The New Moon in Libra Challenges us to Break Free from Familial Patterns and Society's Conditioning
Updated: Oct 7, 2019
This New Moon in Libra that was on September 28, 2019 has brought and will continue to bring with it opportunities for us to go within and check the commitment we have to ourselves and our own inner wisdom. During this next phase of the moon, and possibly the entire month of October, societal institutions and their control structures will be broken down by the simple act of us woke individuals recognizing how we have become slaves to these dark, fearful energies that want to keep us stuck on the same hamster wheel of stagnation.
The Tarot card for this phase is the Hierophant, which to me represents what we are subconsciously committed to. Generally, there is an underlying energy that we are controlled by, which stems from our childhood and the environment we grew up in. This began with our parents, but they too were going along with a certain ideology, dogma, religion, or institution that governed their core values, beliefs, and behaviors, that they got from their parents, and so on and so on. This is where we learned right from wrong. We were most likely not taught how to go within to find these answers and what felt right for us as individuals, but instead were encouraged to follow the masses because we needed this community, support, connection, love, and sense of purpose and belonging to survive.
But no longer are we children, unable to think logically while simultaneously feeling what is right for us. We can process our emotions and come to our own conclusions based upon how we feel about something. This New Moon is our call to action to notice where we may be operating from habitual, conditioned patterns and how it is showing up in our daily routines, self-care, and automatic ways of thinking and being. Does it support who we are becoming and who we want to be? If the answer is no, how can we hold ourselves accountable and make the necessary changes needed to take back our power?
The energy of the Lapis Lazuli crystal is perfect to support us with this. It represents our connection to our throat, third eye, and crown chakras which all govern our connection to Divine wisdom and Universal truth. The structures created here on the Earth plane through institutions are very 3-D and keep us stuck in this dimension. But we are multi-dimensional beings who can also connect to a higher power, and the Lapis can assist us in this reconnection when we have become disconnected from our spiritual selves. It reminds us that we are infinite, and interconnected. We are influenced not just by what is present now, but by our past, our ancestral heritage, and our culture at large.
The self-understanding message with this card says, "You yearn for spiritual attunement, but may be hampered by outmoded viewpoints. Take charge of your life. Looking into the past puts your present experience into perspective. You are a lineage breaker. Make the effort to trace family history for deeper insight." Realize that if you are struggling to break a certain unhealthy habit, it is because that shit runs deep. And if you are called to continuously look at a specific lesson in your own life, it is because you are meant to break this pattern once and for all, for your entire bloodline.
New Moon's represent new beginnings and an introspective time for setting intentions to plant seeds for the future, and Libra energy is all about creating harmony and balance. Where are you out of balance within yourself, and what do you need to shift in order to come back into balance? This may require little changes here and there, or it might call for some major lifestyle changes; it will be different for everyone.
For me, because of the nature of this perfect storm and where I am in my own life, I am using October as a detox month. Specifically with social media, electronics in general, spending, alcohol, men, sex, drugs, caffeine, and food. Basically anything that allows me to have an "out", which to me is a distraction from the changes I am attempting to permanently implement in my life when it comes to manifesting abundance in all areas. You see, there is an aspect of me that is fiercely protective (you most likely have one too), and it is terrified of doing things differently because what if something bad happens? We cannot predict, control, or guarantee an outcome, all we can do is show up, commit, and listen to our hearts and intuition.
But this is extremely scary because of the stories we tell ourselves about how things happened in the past: how we failed, or had our hearts broken, lost our jobs, went broke, bankrupt, felt terribly depressed, angry, lonely, etc. etc. and how this COULD happen again, therefore its best to just avoid changing completely so we don't have to be uncomfortable in the growing pains again (sarcastic eye roll). I'm getting pretty tired of that excuse, aren't you??
So to support you during this phase and month of October, get yourself a journal, write down your plan, find a Lapis Lazuli stone and ask yourself these questions:
1. What pattern is presenting itself to me that I want break?
2. Where did I learn this pattern?
3. Who do I need to be in order to break this pattern for good?
4. How can I create lasting transformation in this area?
5. By when will I decide to shift this for good?
If you need support holding yourself accountable (like me), book a one-on-one session with me to get a fresh perspective, guidance, and clear up any confusion on which direction to go for yourself. And if that fear of committing to something new has still got a hold of you, purchase my Groupon deal before they are gone - sometimes a little discount gives our fiercely protective self a way to relax knowing we didn't lose too much while taking a risk!
I look forward to working with you.
